booting problem cuz of iptables logging..(ANSWER)

Ok, I got the problem. It was happening because the firewall was
REJECTING packets coming to the INPUT chain from the loopback interface.
I did not set and rule for loopback acceptance and hence all the
problems. Perhaps many programs starting at the booting process try to
test their networking using the loopback interface. Because of this,
many other things were also misbehaving. Just to let you guys know.

Let me know if I should still block the loopback for security reasons.

I can't help you there.. I boot into init 3, i've never used GUI on
Fedora, 
console only.

When you boot..

Highlight the kernel you want to load

press 'e' for edit

select the line that starts with 'kernel' and hit 'e' to edit that line

Go to the end of the line and type single as a separate word (press the 
[Spacebar] and then type single). Press [Enter] to exit edit mode.

Back at the GRUB screen, type b to boot into single user mode.
