FC2 graphical installer -> monitor goes blank (no signal)

i have no chance to give it input.  there is no "selection" made.  when you
boot from the installation cd/dvd, you get to the main startup screen and
it says "press enter for graphical install" or "type linux text to install
in text mode" or something along those lines.

i press enter.  anaconda starts, it detects video card, fails to detect
monitor, detects mouse and keyboard, then it tries to start X.  thats when
the monitor goes blank and stops receiving a signal.

i actually found a fix for the problem.  i start anaconda with the following
line:
linux acpi=off apm=off resolution=1024x768

after that, anaconda starts the graphical installer fine (even without
detecting my monitor properly).
