Hmmm, I've seen similar problems with corrupted rpm database on RH9 and
FC*, and rebuilding the rpm db without cleaning out the __db* files
resulted in a hanging rpm --rebuild. IMHO removing the temp. db files
before rebuilding the rpm db is the better idea...
