yum >always< hangs...

As a general hint: you can open the repository link with any browser. If
you do so with http://livna.cat.pdx.edu/fedora/2/i386/yum/ you'll find
that it contains subfolders for stable, testing and unstable. A valid
yum repository URL must contain the headers directory. So if your URL is
for livna testing it must be

http://livna.cat.pdx.edu/fedora/2/i386/yum/testing/

Please review your yum.conf file and make sure you have all valid URLs
inside it.
