ALSA and alsamixer

Greetings,

In the alsamixer the sliders are all allocated in correctly on a sounb
blaster live value and my onboard snd_intel8x0 on a different PC,
For example
The master and PCM work fine. 
The BASS and TREBLE on the Live slide but have no effect.
The surround control also slide but no effect.
most of the sliders do nothing,

Is there away to fix this?
