how to access SD card via lexarmedia multi-card reader?

i tried all of /dev/sda[1-4], and got "No medium found."  given that 
/var/log/messages refers to a "scsi removable disk sda," that 
certainly looks like your best, first guess, doesn't it?

still puzzled ...
