Xfree86 4.4 on FC1

Hi,
I installed Xfree86 4.4 from their binary installation (With init 3 mode as suggested) and unfortunately I've overwritten all config files (Fortunately I've taken backup of X11 folders). After I reboot the PC and ran xf86cnf I found that my default window manager is running inside some other (safe mode like desktop) and I've lost my desktop. Although I select the session desktop at the login manager, I cann't goto the selected desktop. I've lost my fedora gui boot screen as well. Can any body give me a push on this please?
