The best thing I can suggest would be to pop over to this site:

http://www.turboprint.de/english.html

And get the demo version of this software, and run the printer from
there. I have both a Canon BJC-3000 & S830D using Turboprint and it
works great. CUPS's default printer drivers seem to work ok, but it
doesn't print properly for me. And Turboprint interfaces to CUPS as
well.
