I find that hard to believe.

[whooper at snowball i386]$ rpm -qlp mozilla-1.4.1-18.i386.rpm | grep
libxpcom.so
/usr/lib/mozilla-1.4.1/libxpcom.so

It is a requirement of Open Office.  The part of Open Office that depends
on it being there WILL fail.
