I think it was just a matter of that package being updated at
Livna because I was getting the same status a few days ago.

 Package xmms-mp3 needs xmms = 1:1.2.10, this is not available.

Today the header downloaded... so I did...

 yum --exclude=gdm install xmms-mp3

And now xmms does mp3 and cd and sounds real special.

This is what worked for me.
