Sound not working after upgrading FC1 -> FC2

Unrelated as sound doesn't work at all.  In the bug listed here system
sounds do work just Gnome sounds don't work.

I can't get sound to work in any way I've tried, Gnome, KDE, command 
line, etc...

I watch TV on a TV tuner card which sends the audio into the sound 
card's line input and even that doesn't work.
