No Sound in gnome after update to FC2 from FC1

It's ugly as hell, but it works. Here's what I did

[no sound]
run system-sound-config
play test sound
[sound now works correctly]
do /usr/sbin/alsactl -f soundsettings.cfg store
reboot

[no sound]
do /usr/sbin/alsactl -f soundsettings.cfg restore
[sound now works correctly]

I'll put it in init.rd and forget about it :-)
