It's unfortunate your attempts to remedy the small problem led to
much worse consequences than were necessary.    Not sure why
you can't install Windows now, that'd be a Microsoft problem.   
Promise you that this problem didn't do any permanent damage
and most people haven't had to reinstall everything.   Installing
Fedora again it should just work.

Yes,  as testers we really let ourselves down on this one.   Would 
have been nicer if we had figured out a better solution to this before the
release date.   All we can do now is deal with it and move forward.
Maybe we need more testers who use dual boot and are good at
debugging such things.   This problem doesn't even affect everyone 
who dual boots and doesn't hurt anyone that isn't dual booting at all.

We have some switches that a few ports don't like to work with certain
network cards.  Change the port and all is well.

And it is possible that one card will work better (higher signal
levels) when there is a poor connection at one point in the chain.  I have
been screwed up when a spider had used a jack as a home and the old cob webs
had left a thin coat on the contacts.

goodwill that's not even, apparently as you say, put on paper by NVIDIA.

How is that good, come again?

I care about having _real_ support for the hardware I buy.
That can only be achieved by hardware specification or Free Software
drivers provided by the hardware vendor.

If you are experiencing SLOW network access, it could be due to the fact 
that you are running IPv6.
An easy way to disable this is to modify /etc/modprobe.conf to include 
the following line:

alias net-pf-10 off

You will need to reboot, but it solved the problem for me.  I have 
Comcast cable Internet, and prior to upgrade to FC2, I was seeing > 
3Mb/s download rates.  After the upgrade to FC2, I was seeing around 
1.2Mb/s download rates.  Obviously, this was unacceptable.

Turns out IPv6 was enabled in my configuration and the added line to the 
modprobe.conf file fixed my network speed issues.  By disabling IPv6, I 
was able to get back to what I expected to be the true bandwidth.

Hopefully this note will help othere who may experience the same problems.

At least some Dell PERC controllers are actually re-branded LSI MegaRaid 
controllers, I was surprised to find out the other day. I don't have any 
running with FC, but they have always worked excellently for me with RH 
6 onward--with the exception of the quad-channel PERC2, a while back 
(late 1999/early 2000). RH and Dell would only support the single- and 
dual-channel PERCs at that time (I don't know if that's still true, or 
even if they still make quad-channel controllers anymore).

Yes, I've done that.
The weird thing is: before i created the JAVA_HOME environment variable,
there was no such variable. According to the Tomcat documentation this
variable must exist for Tomcat to work, but in my case it also worked
without this variable. I've looked in the /etc/sysconfig/tomcat file and in
the tomcat startup script, but i don't see a reference to the JAVA_HOME
variable.

There's where your mistaken.  REAL Support does NOT
equal Open Source drivers for your hardware.  REAL
support means that when things do not function
PROPERLY they get fixed and function PROPERLY.

The nVidia card is function EXACTLY like it is
supposed to.  The drivers work perfectly well in
Linux.  There are breakages due to the new kernel
memory space change, but that will be solved.  And
there *IS* a work-around for it in the meantime.  So I
will give you that, but drivers almost never work 100%
when you're performing a MAJOR underlying OS upgrade. 
Open Source or Close Source.

I am a computer network engineer by trade.  I use the
BEST tools at my disposal.  Whether they be Open
Source or proprietary.  I don't say, "Well, I can't
use this tool because I haven't seen the source code
for it."  I say, "Here I ahve this array of tools at
my disposal.  Which one would be the best for the
function I am trying to perform?"

You remind me of a kid that doesn't get his way so
he's going to kick and shout and scream until he gets
his own way.  Grow up.  The world doesn't revolve
around your ideals, or mine.  No amount of crying
about it is going to MAKE anyone do what you want. 
Get over it.  You want Open Source drivers for the
nVidia cards.  Write them yourself.  That's how Open
Source evolved.  People needed something they couldn't
get elsewhere so they did it themselves.

Give it a bleeding break!!! If you want software drivers for your
hardware you are on the wrong list!!

Nvidia supply video drivers for Linux. They maybe a little dated, but
they are better than no drivers at all. I'm happy with them. If you want
"Free Software Drivers" sent your emails to Nvidia, and don't clutter up
this list with your requests, and babble.
