Upgrading from FC1 to FC2

I am a newbie to X-Windows based Linux.  I have installed FC1 on a old
IBM 300GL desk top.  I want to upgrade to FC-2 in as easy a way as
possible.  Can I upgrade by using synaptic?  I do not have a CD-ROM
burner on the FC1 machine so I can not bur any media.  I have used Unix
on our library servers but not at the admin level.  I need detailed
steps.
