As a note, everything that Norton Internet Security for Windows claims
to provide is already provided by Fedora Core 3 (spam filtering,
firewall, popup blockers, web proxy, etc) except a virus scanner.  There
are several third party virus scanners (e.g. clamav).  However, Linux
viruses are virtually non-existent.  I'd be much more worried about
using strong passwords, disabling unused services (httpd, sshd, etc) and
enabling your firewall than I would a virus.

The firewall can be controlled from:
  Main menu -> System Settings -> Security Level

Fedora Core doesn't have the ability to run Windows programs.  You'll
need a third party package like WINE to run Windows programs.

But, Norton Internet Security for Windows probably wouldn't even try to
install using WINE.  It's intimately tied into the Windows operating
system.


If you regularly need Windows programs then I'd suggest buying CrossOver
Office.  All of the supported programs seem to work perfectly and many
other applications work quite well.  CrossOver integrates Windows
applications seamlessly into the desktop environment.

If you want to experiment with Windows programs then use the "wine"
package from this Fedora Core 3 third party repository.  The "wine"
package is not at all integrated with the desktop environment and might
prove quite confusing at first.
