Help me...my applications can't see the Internet connection

1st - do you get an Ip address? (try ifconfig).
2nd - if true, whats the contents, when conected, of /etc/resolv.conf)
3rd - Is Iptables configured? are you blocking dns/dhcp trafic on ppp
interface? try to flush all iptables rules just to check (for a minimal
time... it's dangerous...)
