Audio CDROM problems...

Greetings,
I've been having a bit of a problem with audio cdroms on FC3. I am
trying to "rip" some cds and store them on the hard drive of my laptop
(gotta have some tunes when traveling). The problem I noticed is that
after several CDs I couldn't eject the cd anymore. The "eject" button on
"grip" wouldn't work, and the hardware eject button on the CD drive
would not work (had to get out the old paper clip and force it to open).
No, I wasn't being impatient, I have grip configured to eject upon
completion and it wouldn't. I noticed in the /var/log/messages file that
prior to me trying to eject the CD, there were a series of error
messages for "hdc" of the form:
Nov 30 15:48:37 traveler kernel: hdc: command error: status=0x51 {
DriveReady SeekComplete Error }
Nov 30 15:48:37 traveler kernel: hdc: command error: error=0x54

After seeing these in /var/log/messages, I was unable to eject the cd
except via the trusty paperclip. I noticed that if I insert the CD
before I start grip, I get these messages immediately when I insert the
audio cd. If I start grip first, and then insert the audio cd, I don't
get the messages right away, but instead get them sometime later. It
seems as though "hotplug" or something is trying to mount my audio cd as
a filesystem. I thought FC3 could recognize audio cds and not have a
problem with them...
any help would be greatly appreciated..
John
