problem with gnome-terminal (FC2)

Hi,

having the problem that my gnome-terminal does not close the window
when entering the bash command "exit". Any solution? The problem is a
very old one (already existed in RH9).

I am running init mode 3 (not 5), starting X11 by "startx".
