mp3 misbehaving in xmms

Arn't most things objective?

By improved the quality I mean that on my setup, playing while I'm using 
the computer for productive uses the audio is smoother and less 
distorted/disjointed when heard through the speakers attached to my 
computer.  With the former, I was getting jumping and audio distortion.
