Strange Message

Hi All !

FC2, fully up2date as of this morning.  When initially logging in, and
on invoking some commands, particularly 'make' from inside 'vi', I get
this message:

   :!make
   KDSKBENT: Invalid argument
   failed to bind key 255 to value 2031
   make: Nothing to be dome for 'all'.

   Hit ENTER or type command to continue

Any ideas what this is all about or how to stop it ?
