Allowing telnet connection

First, make sure that you have the telnet server package installed:
rpm -q telnet-server
If it comes back with "telnet-server-xxx" where xxx is some sort of
version info, then you'll run:
/sbin/chkconfig telnet on
to turn the service on.
As a precaution, once you've used the chkconfig line, above, you can:
/sbin/service xinetd restart
to make sure that xinetd reloads with the telnet server available.
