Latest versions of cdrecord, xcdroast, k3b can't burn my CDs

I still cant use k3b even as root using 2.6.8, 2.6.7 or 2.6.6 it just
hangs at "Scanning Devices...." cdrecord will only work as root in
2.6.8 not at all in 2.6.7 or 2.6.6.

Weird as or what.......
