from the Fedora rescue cd:

linux askmethod
http

the info entered:

mirrors.kernel.org
/fedora/core/3/i386/os/

results in this error message:
1..2..3..4..5..X Server started successfuly
X10: fatal IO error 104(connection reset by peer) on X server ":1.0"

there's an existing linux distro on that partition.  is the error due to what's on the partition already, the connection to mirrors.kernel.org, or maybe something at kernel.org itself?
