Correct Command Needed-Tripwire Related

Hi All,

I know the below command is wrong,

/usr/local/bin/cleanpol.pl <twpol.txt.orig \ >twpol.txt

as it doesn't write to the twpol.txt file after making the changes

and I remember someone had replied in here with what they thought was 
the correct one,

[root at localhost tripwire]# cat twpol.txt.orig | cleanpol.pl > twpol.txt

 but, it doesn't work. Nothing is written to twpol.txt after the changes 
are peformed. Anyone see what is needed here.? Cheers.
