Definitely not a problem. We use dovecot instead of courier. Courier
is not part of the distro, dovecot is. We also use procmail instead of
maildrop, again for the same reason. But, as for the other software,
these are the current version numbers if you keep your system updated:

bind-9.2.5-1
openssl-0.9.7a-40
openldap-2.2.13-2
cyrus-sasl-2.1.19-3
mysql-3.23.58-16.FC3.1
gcc-3.4.3-22.fc3
postfix-2.1.5-5
gnome-desktop-2.8.0-3
openoffice.org-1.1.3-11.5.0.fc3

As for the Courier/Maildrop, we used to use that, but are extremely
happy with the Dovecot/Procmail setup we moved to because of Fedora. I
have much less problems with Dovecot than I did with Courier. Courier
no mater what we tried, had sporadic problems with certain mail clients,
Mozilla/Thunderbird being ground zero. Since moving to Dovecot, it
worked perfect every time. It also read the Courier IMAP maildirs
without needed to convert anything! So it ended up being a drop in
replacement.

I generally find the mp3 stuff usually comes into play eventually in a
business environment when doing presentations. Its not all for fun and
games. The DVD stuff also comes into play when dealing with CBT, or
writing DVDs. Again, both business environment issues. These items
will bite most of us eventually. Mandriva systems will handle this
better, but it is not overly difficult to get around in RH/Fedora.

Good Luck
