GRUB Stage2 vs Stage1.5

Dear all,

I have noticed that after a GRUB reinstall, the GRUB message shows "GRUB
 Loading Stage1.5" as opposed to the usual "GRUB  Loading Stage2" after
a fresh install ..

Why is there this discrepency and how can I get it to reinstall using
the Stage2 files?
