OT: Industrial Process modeling

We use Rockwell Software's Arena for this.  http://www.software.rockwell.com/arenasimulation/

No, it does not run under Linux, but it's the right tool for the job.  I think there might be some demos of how we have used it here: http://web.umr.edu/~autoid/

I haven't looked at  SAL for a while, but I would bet that you would find something appropriate in 
there under Data Modeling and Visualization. They list programs for nearly any technical application.
