Apt Problem.

hi all.
i am not familiar with yum.
and using apt for fedora.
although i edit sourcelist of it still cannot use it.
when i try to search for a specific package with :
#apt-cache search blablabla
shows nothing :(
what should i do ?
anyone here uses apt with no complaint ?
help please.
