multiple yums ?

hi all.
cant i use multiple yum processes at different konsoles ?
i mean when i do something in one konsole, cant do any search with yum in
another one at all :(
when try  to use yum twice, always get the error below :

[root at localhost root]# yum search gaim
Existing lock /var/run/yum.pid: another copy is running. Aborting.
[root at localhost root]#

what can i do ?
is there a way to red rid of this error ? and use it on  as many different
konsoles as we want ?
