Hi Will,

I've been having similar problems with ALSA (trying to record my voice
through the mic with Audacity.

After searching through the bugzilla at red hat i found this:

(no sound (emu10k1) after kernel update)

I realize that this isn't your sound system, but I found my solution in
one of the comments on this bug:

I turned on the switch described there and I can now record my voice.
