If you want a 2.4 kernel, best to use a distro that supports it. For 
example, the aged RHL 7.1 through FC2 (I think), or Debian.

You are likely to get into trouble trying to run a 2.4 kernel on FC3 or 
later as, almost certainly, essential software (such as gcc 2.9x) is 
mussing.

btw Red Hat never shipped gcc 2.95.
