re-using .config to compile kernel

ok, that was silly, it's not "make bzimage" but "make bzImage" so, uh, nevermind on that!

However...

the compile failed for unclear reasons.  a log is at <http://thufir.lecktronix.net/kernel/>.  here's an excerpt from the log:
