I forgot to mention some details:

> After invoking zapping, dmesg prints this line:
> application zapping uses obsolete OSS audio interface
> The audio device is set on "kernel device" which is driven by OSS 3.8.16
> The control volume with soundcardmixer is driver by "ICH4 OSS 3.8.16"
> My soundcard is: 82801 EB/ER (ICH5/ICH5R) AC '97

Let me get this straight, you are using the OSS drivers from the Open
Sound System website? Or are you using the supplied FC3 drivers (kernel
drivers)? From what I can make out of your message you are using custom
OSS drivers that you got straight from the OSS site.
I am using drivers that came with FC3. I never installed OSS drivers from the OSS website.
