You can "install" the shadow file by executing touch /etc/shadow as
root. But this (as the other suggestion you received earlier) will
probably not help you much. During installation, what authentication
method & options have you chosen, probably not the default? shadow is
the file which holds your local user passwords.
For FC3 you may want to go to Applications->Syhstem Settings-
>Authentication. Make sure that in "User Authentication" all checks are
off. In "Authentication", everything but "Use shadow passwords" and "Use
MD5 passwords" is off, the latter 2 should be checked.
While not having tried this, I assume thiw will re-generate the shadow-
file for you and set the authentication mechanisms accordingly.
PS: Make sure you have a rescue-CD handy. You might have to boot off
that one in case your authentication is screwed and you can't even log
in as root afterwards.
