newbie in trouble - recovering fstab [solved]

rpm -e packagename

Did indeed mean I could uninstal a few things so there was space for me to 
boot up. Boots up fine - fstab works as before.

Thanks for the help and patience guys!

Now I'll start again with a thread on how to move /home ... this time I hope I 
can make it work _without_ busting the whole system
