I have a noname PC Card/USB 2 controller with a NEC chip, the drive is a
Western Digital, it's my only USB 2 device. The issue might be the
embedded IDE controller. Strange thing is that it works perfectly with
kernel 2.6.5 (Knoppix).

I detachhed all other USB devices to make sure there is no other device
interfering with the USB 2 device.

I'll attach the out put of lspci and of lsusb (before and after
inserting the PC Card, and after attaching the drive).
