Install FC3 with 2.6.10

Yes.
I think all you will need is the appropriate kernel, I don't think any  
other updates are required by the kernel package, but I might be wrong.

btw - there is a company that would sell monthly remasters of FC1 that  
included all updates, I don't remember who they were - just that they  
wanted something like $99.00/year and would send you one CD a month.

If they are still around, that might be an option.
