Are you doing this in the /usr/sbin directory? This is where httpd was
installed on FC3. Do you have an /etc/httpd directory? This directory
should have a conf file. If you do not, reinstall httpd from your
Installation disks. If you have both of these installed, check the conf
file to make sure that the file is not empty.

Also, if you downloaded Apache 2.0.52 from Apache, MAKE SURE THAT YOU
DEINSTALL HTTPD INSTALLED BY FEDORA. There are reports that doing so
will leave you with an unstable and unusable Apache and httpd installation.

Note: Apache is a installation using the source code downloaded from
Apache.org and httpd is the rpm installation from Fedora Core 3.
