Just do a manual installation.  All you need to do is copy the
file libflashplayer.so into the browser's plugin directory...such as,

  cp libflashplayer.so /usr/lib/mozilla-1.7.3/plugins/


And if it works, send some mail to Macromedia to tell them their
installer script has a problem.
