Is YUM superior to Synaptic ?? (was synaptic evolution)

In my humble opinion yum is way superior to synaptic, since yum is a
VERY easy to use command line tool, and synaptic always died on me,
way back months ago when I used to use it.

# yum search evolution

willl find packages with similar names as 'evolution' or containing
the string.  Then you can pick what to install with

# yum install evolutionyadayada.i386 
for example     (fictitious package name)  

(Not that I would generally recommend evolution mind you , but that's
another conversation entirely...)

Meanwhile to update the entire system you just say
# yum update

Yum will figure out your dependencies for you and then ask you do you
want to proceed yes or no.  All you have to do is make sure you get a
really good yum.conf file that points to some good repositiories.

'yum.conf' and you will find further info.
