Still you may think about some simple KVM switch. My Fedora box is 
running mostly without monitor (I am using ssh access - did not try 
anything like VNC though as I really don't need the GUI for the things I 
am doing most of the time). I do have the KVM switch though for the rare 
moments when I check out the LaTeX output.
