FC3 & irssi install probs

ok, i've:
yum install gcc
yum install gcc-g++
yum install autoconf
yum install automake
and tried:
yum install textinfo <--- no luck 'no targets found'
ok, i admit i'm real new to yum.
what i need to know is how to find the exact syntax for yum.
ex: i want to install textinfo
how do i find out what to type?
also what is pre-updates? and how do i install it.
