M$ seems to assume every machine si running windows, so they don't 
always mark the cd.  And generally speaking, the windows drivers 
don't work.

This is how mailing lists work.  There may be workarounds like 
periodicly visiting the archives, but due to spammers, its becoming 
the norm to have to be subcribed in order to post, and if subscribed, 
you get everything.
