processor speed

I have a Gigabyte MD running a AMD64 3100+.
when runnibg Mandrake 64 /proc/cpuinfo
indicates a speed of 2010MHz, FC3 64
shows the speed at 1005MHz. any comments?
The bogomips, at 1990, is also 1/2 of Mandrake.
For comparison, my Duron 1300 (1294MHz)
runs  2582 bogomips (RH9).
I'm hoping it's just an error in calculating
(measuring) the speed in FC3.
