Kernel panic when booting without acpi=off as of 2.6.12-rc1 and above

You are saying that above insmod error does not appear when booting with
"acpi=off" kernel parameter? I would have guessed the insmod error is
caused by missing a different module loaded previous to the ata_piix
load or by missing something in the kernel.
