host: parse of /etc/resolv.conf failed

This is occurring on the machine running bind. Bind running perfectly
but bind-utils (host and dig) via ssh render this error message. There
is absolutely nothing wrong with resolv.conf; nameserver localhost

I really don't need to run bind-utils from this machine but it concerns
me that something more serious is going on.
