internet connection - PPPoE setup?

I'm experience something strange about this,
I'm on FC4 and PPPoE... no problems at all if I just go to networks
and activate my internet INSIDE gnome...

BUT, gnome activate it automatically in the start... in that point, 
it does not work.... give me an failed....

How to desactivate that in the start , and maybe put in other
 incialization file ? hehe... what is the "msconfig" equivalent?

ps.:sorry to say something about that old OS that I don't use anymore...
