You would have been better off with the D-Link 302G ADSL modem, as it
also has a LAN port. And since it has a web interface it can be
configured via a web browser. You would have only needed to setup Linux
for DHCP and that would have been it. I use the 302G via a router, and
have no problems with it in both Linux & Windows. Nothing to
reconfigure, and no drivers to load.
