Can't install 2.6.9 kernel with yum?

Yum won't install older versions of packages than those you already have
installed. You'll need to download the 2.6.9-1.724_FC3 kernel RPM
yourself and install it using rpm:

# rpm -ivh --oldpackage kernel-2.6.9-1.724_FC3.*.rpm
