Is there file lock in Linux too?

We have a small office.
We have some Thin Clients
We use FC3 with:
	- OO
	- Gnumeric
	- Firefox
	- Evolution

But file lock is not working with OO.
I have no test in Gnumeric.
It is not good.

Is it my problem, FC3 problem or an OO problem?
Is there a solution?
